Alverno Presents The Drowsy Chaperone

Alverno Heights Academy is proud to present The Drowsy Chaperone on Thursday, April 26, Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Sierra Madre Elementary School Auditorium.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical with book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. It is a parody of the American musical comedies of the 1920s. The story concerns a middle-aged, asocial musical theatre fan; as she plays the record of her favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone. The show comes to life onstage as she wryly comments on the music, story, and actors.

A montage of songs from The Drowsy Chaperone was performed by the Alverno cast at the Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival in March 2018, where Alverno’s production was ranked #18 out of 56 productions in the musical theatre competition.
